In 1892, cavalry captain Joseph Blocker, a former war hero who became a prison guard, was forced to escort Yellow Hawk, the dying Cheyenne warlord, on his former tribal lands. Shortly after taking the road, they meet Rosalee Quaid. Only survivor of the massacre of her family by the Comanches, the traumatized young woman joins them in their journey.
Shaped by suffering, violence and death, they have endless reserves of anger and mistrust of others. On the perilous road that will take them from New Mexico to Montana, the former enemies will have to show solidarity to survive the environment and the Comanche tribes they meet.
