An Untraditional Drama: Brothers, Gangs and a Story of Acceptance

My Brother the Devil tells the story of brotherhood, crime and love. Set in one of the most crime-ridden communities in London, two Arab brothers struggle to find themselves amidst their rough lifestyle consumed with drugs and gangs. Younger brother, Mo, struggles to fit into the gang lifestyle, as he follows in the footsteps of his older brother Rash. Rash struggles to get the two of them off of this detrimental path, while also trying to accept his own sexual awakening.

Hosaini’s film is a masterpiece that incorporates exceptional cinematography, outstanding acting and a heartfelt story that is sure to grab attention. In 2012, My Brother the Devil won multiple awards, including Best Cinematography and the Worldview/Sundance Impact Award at the Sundance Film Festival. Sally El Hosaini also took home the Best British Newcomer award at the 2012 London Film Festival and lead actor James Floyd took home Best Actor at the 2012 Milan International Film Festival.
