Summer 1983. Elio Perlman, 17, spends her holidays in the 17th century villa owned by her family in Italy, playing classical music, reading and flirting with her friend Marzia. His father, an eminent professor of Greco-Roman culture, and his mother, a translator, gave him an excellent education, and he is close to his parents. His sophistication and intellectual talents make Elio a young man who is mature for his age, but he also retains a certain innocence, especially with regard to love. One day, Oliver, an attractive American doctoral student, comes to work with Elio’s father. Elio and Oliver will soon discover the awakening of desire, during a sunny summer in the Italian countryside that will change their lives forever
